»There aren't many individuals who can lay claim to playing an essential role in revolutionising the music of an entire nation...« Guitar Buyer Born in 1932, virtuoso guitarist Ernest Ranglin is one of the godfathers of Jamaican popular music, leading to rock steady, reggae, ragga and all the innovations the island has brought into the global mainstream. He helped shape the sound of ska as it emerged in the 1950s and it’s Ranglin with his fabulous guitar on Millie Small’s 1964 international ska smash ‘My Boy Lollipop’. Many well known artists like the Skatalites, Prince Buster, The Wailers , Jimmy Cliff and later on Tony Allen toured and recorded with Ernest Ranglin in the last decades. Now the maestro is celebrating his 80th anniversary tour, still performing great Jamaican grooves melt up with breathtaking precise jazz at the highest level - and furthermore still danceable. As popular as ever, Ranglin draws large crowds on the touring circuit and remains a highlight of numerous European festivals throughout the year.
